What is a power flush?

This builds up into a dark, muddy sludge that restricts the flow of water around your system.

A power flush is a deep clean for your central heating. We connect a specialist machine to your system and push a high-flow, low-pressure water and chemical mix through every pipe and radiator, dislodging and flushing out years of accumulated sludge, scale and corrosion.

Once the flush is complete, we treat the system with a long-life inhibitor and fit a magnetic filter to catch any future debris before it causes damage. The result is a heating system that works the way it should.

How long does a power flush take?
Most domestic properties take between four and eight hours. Larger systems or those with heavy sludge build-up can take longer. We’ll give you a realistic time estimate when we assess your system.
No. Power flushing uses high flow at low pressure, which is safe for radiators, pipes and boilers in normal condition. Our engineer will check your system beforehand and flag any areas of concern before we start.
Most systems benefit from a power flush every five to eight years, though this depends on the age of the system, whether a magnetic filter is fitted and the quality of the water in your area. A filter fitted after your flush will significantly extend the time between cleans.
Not quite. A chemical flush circulates cleaning chemicals through the system but without the high-flow flushing action of a full power flush. For systems with significant sludge build-up, a power flush gives a much more thorough clean. Our engineer will recommend the right approach for your system.
Bleeding your radiators removes air from the system, which helps with cold spots at the top of radiators. Sludge-related cold spots at the bottom of radiators are a different problem and won’t be fixed by bleeding alone. A power flush is the right solution for sludge.
